Downsizing

A lot of people buy a big house and eventually find themselves not having a need for such a big home after a certain amount of time. Whether it's a St. Catharine's home or a home along the Trent Severn Waterway. They might have bought a home with three bathrooms and four bedrooms because each room was being used at the time. Eventually, as children grow up and move away, those rooms become empty. The closets have more space and the basement rec room becomes less cluttered over time. There's just too much empty space.

If you find yourself in this situation and find that your home is just too big and too much for you to care for anymore, you might want to consider downsizing. You can look into moving into a smaller home that's enough to accommodate just yourself or you and your spouse. You could also look into buying a condo. A St. Catharine's condo or a Toronto condo if you want to move to the big city.

You might have a hard time adjusting to the idea of moving. Especially if you've lived in your home for what seems like eternity. Life goes on though and so should you. Why should you have to concern yourself with mowing a lawn that takes two hours of your time each time you cut it? Or, what's the point of living in a home that's three-storeys high when you only frequently use one of them? Any St. Catharine's or Richmond Hill Ontario real estate agent will advise you that selling your home is the smart thing to do.

It's also a wise financial move. Selling a home as big as the one you live in will surely make you a profit if you buy a house that's a lot smaller than the one you occupy. Smaller homes on the market go for a lot less than bigger ones. It's simple math. The less square footage a home has, the less you have to pay. That should be incentive enough to sell your humongous home and star looking at smaller townhomes in Toronto or St. Catharine's. Of course you're sentimental about your home. You watched your kids grow up in that home. It's just that they're no longer around to use it and have their own homes now. A new and smaller home will make you happier. It will also be a lot less work as you won't have to go around cleaning each of those rooms that you no longer use.

If you decide to buy a St. Catharine's condo or look at condominiums in downtown Toronto, you'll have even more time to enjoy your golden years as the condo fees you pay for take care of any and all repairs and maintenance. You don't have to lift a finger. So, why not consider downsizing? You don't really have anything to lose.
