Education Alternatives in St. Catharines, Ontario

The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) is responsible for nearly 119 public school faculties in the Niagara region and has its head office located in St. Catharines. The city holds 8 secondary schools under this district, as well as 29 elementary schools. The Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) also operates 3 secondary schools and 14 elementary schools in the region. Private schools such as Pinehurst School also operate in the city.


For post-secondary education, Brock University is located in St. Catharines. Brock University was established in 1969, and named after Major General Sir Issac Brock, who fought and died in the Battle of Queenston Heights in the War of 1812. His last words, "Surgite!" ("Push on!") are the school's official motto, and his silhouette is the school's logo. Also located in St. Catharines, in the west end of the city, Ridley College is an Anglican co-educational boarding and University-preparation school. It consists of both a Middle School for grades 5-8 and an Upper School for University preparation.
