St. Catharines holds a large variety of shopping, art and culture for your entertainment purposes. The Pen Center, the largest shopping center in the Niagara Peninsula, is located in St. Catharines, along with the Fairview and Lincoln malls and the Farmer's Market downtown. Art galeries include Rodman Hall and The Niagara Artist's Center, while museums include The St. Catharines Museum at Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. Here, a viewing platform allows visitors to watch ships from around the world climb the St. Lawrence Seaway, while the interior contains exhibits on the city's history and canals. However, these are not the limits of the art scene in St. Catharines - Numerous art festivals occur throughout the year, as well as musical theatre productions.
For the nature lover, over 90 kilometres of trails run through St. Catharines, including 20 km of the Bruce Trail and the Waterfront Trail. These trails are perfect for runners, hikers, bikers, walkers, and cross-country skiers in winter, and the 1.5 km long Terry Fox Fitness trail includes 6 exercise stations of Dynatract Fitness Course, with instruction boards at each station. For a more leisurely time, the city isn't nicknamed "The Garden City" for nothing: Over 1000 acres of parks, gardens and trails cover the city.
In sports, the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta is held in Port Dalhousie every year: This is a world-class rowing event that brings over 3,000 visitors from various into the city to compete. The St. Catharines Wolves of the Canadian Soccer League are one of the most successful professional soccer teams in Canada. Their games are held at the Joe McCaffrey Sports Complex in the city's West end. The St. Catharines Saints, who become the Toronto Marlies, serve as the farm team for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The city's Junior B team, the St. Catharines Falcons, play out of Jack Gatecliff Arena, which will also be hosting the Mississauga IceDogs for the 2007/2008 season, during which they will be known as the Niagara IceDogs.
