Take It To Storage

Step one in staging a home for sale is to de-clutter your house. Buyers want to be able to see the full potential of the home while they're touring it with their Scarborough real estate agents, and they can't do that if the place is clogged with your furniture and personal items. Staging aims for a minimalist type of decor, which means the average person has a lot of extra stuff that needs to go somewhere. Rather than stuffing it into the garage (where buyers will want to look) you should take it to storage.

When you're deciding what to keep in your property for sale in Toronto and what to put into storage, go by how functional the piece is. For example, you need a dining room table and chair set. You do not need a large sideboard or china cabinet. You need a sofa, but you don't need four sofas. Whatever you can live without, take it out. The idea is to create a space that is open but not empty. It also helps if the pieces you choose to keep compliment one another.

Before you go ahead and rent a storage unit for your extra furniture, ask yourself "do I really still want this?" Clearing out your home before putting it on the Windsor real estate listings is a great opportunity to get rid of some of the furniture you don't want or need. If you want to get rid of it, you can place a free ad online or donate it to charities like Value Village or the Salvation Army.

Get an approximate idea of how much you're going to be putting in storage before you rent a unit, because there are many different sizes. At their smallest, they're about the size of a walk-in closet, which is good if your Mississauga real estate agent just wants you to get rid of personal stuff. At their largest, storage units have enough room to store the contents of a four bedroom house plus your car. The attendant at the rental place can advise you on what size you need.

When you're choosing a rental place, remember that you want your furniture stored in an environment that approximately matches your home. That means heated, unless you think the contents of Toronto Beaches homes won't freeze in summer and boil in winter. Many moving companies have their own storage facilities where they'll take your things until you're ready to move, and there are many self storage chains across the country as well.
